Wavve Boating Launches Apple Watch App, Bringing Real-Time Awareness to Boaters’ Wrists

May 7, 2026 – Kingston, Ontario

Wavve Boating today announced the release of its Apple Watch app, becoming the first marine navigation app to bring real-time navigation awareness and control to a wearable device. Designed for real-world boating conditions, the Apple Watch experience provides critical navigation insights in moments when using a phone isn’t practical.

Addressing a Real-World Boating Challenge

On-water environments are dynamic by nature. Boaters are often in motion, navigating in bright sunlight, and need to keep their hands on the wheel. Traditional mobile navigation tools, while powerful, are not always optimized for these conditions. Accessing key information can require shifting attention away from the water, creating friction at moments when awareness matters most.

Shallow Water Warnings & Chart Control from Your Wrist

The Wavve Boating Apple Watch app is designed to reduce that friction by making navigation more immediate and accessible directly from the wrist.

Boaters can adjust their map using the Apple Watch Digital Crown, providing precise, tactile control that remains reliable in wet or rough environments, or when their iPhone is mounted out of reach. This allows boaters to stay engaged with their surroundings while still interacting with their navigation tools.

The app also introduces shallow water alerts delivered through haptic feedback on the wrist. These alerts notify boaters the moment they enter a potentially hazardous area, reducing the time between encountering a risk and becoming aware of it. By removing the need to look at a screen or reach for a device, the feature helps boaters respond more quickly and maintain focus on operating their vessel.

A Software-First Approach to Marine Navigation

The Apple Watch app reflects Wavve Boating’s broader approach to modernizing marine navigation. As a small, software-driven team, Wavve is building accessible alternatives to traditional navigation systems that have historically relied on expensive, proprietary onboard hardware.

By leveraging Apple’s ecosystem, Wavve Boating is able to deliver powerful navigation tools through devices boaters already own, reducing barriers to entry and improving the overall experience for both new and experienced boaters.

“Boating doesn’t happen from a stationary position, and navigation tools should reflect that,” said Adam Allore, President of Wavve Boating. “With the Apple Watch app, we’re giving boaters faster access to critical information in a way that fits naturally into how they operate on the water. It’s about making navigation simpler, more responsive, and more accessible.”

Early Adoption and Availability

Following a soft launch in the App Store, the Apple Watch app is already seeing early adoption from the Wavve community, signaling strong demand for more flexible, on-the-water navigation experiences.

The Apple Watch app is available now as part of the Wavve Boating app on iOS.
