Confirm Wavve Boating Charts Your Water Before You Test It in a Free Trial
To check whether Wavve Boating has chart data for your water, look it up on the coverage map on Wavve’s website or in the Free Web Chart Viewer, and do it before your free trial starts.
On the coverage map, any water inside a light-blue or dark-blue polygon has Wavve chart data, and Wavve updates the map as new data is released. Coverage varies within regions, so zoom in on the exact lake, river, bay or stretch of coast you plan to boat rather than the general area around it. Wavve charts water in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, along with select island waters, and the coverage includes thousands of inland lakes. Lake coverage arrives in licensed batches plus lakes sourced individually, so a covered lake nearby does not settle whether yours is. New bodies of water are added regularly, so the current map is the one to check.
The Free Web Chart Viewer lets you look closer. It is free, it opens in a web browser on a computer, and where your water is covered, it shows the actual charts on a larger screen before you install anything. You can lay out a route there as well, and if you save it while signed in to your Wavve account, it will be waiting in the app on your phone.
Looking closely matters because how much detail you get depends on the source behind each chart and on the body of water itself. Offshore, depth soundings get sparser the farther you go from shore, because survey boats run closer together near the coast, so check the depths along the exact stretch you plan to run.
It also helps to know how the app behaves on water it does not yet cover. The map still shows the outline of the body of water, the way a general map app does, and your GPS position still works. There is no nautical data, though, and AutoRouting is not available there.
If your water turns out to be missing, you can send Wavve a coverage request. Requests go to Wavve’s Mapping team, which triages them, and Customer Success reaches out once that water becomes available. Customer Success is a human team that answers email seven days a week, 365 days a year, and aims to reply within 24 hours.
For a lake you already know is covered, the viewer is still worth a look before your first outing. Seeing the charts for a familiar cove or launch on a large screen lets you spot the bars and channels you plan to test, and gives you a route to load before you head out with the app on your phone.
