Boating for Everyone: Volvo Penta
From automated charging stations to energy-sharing capabilities, Volvo Penta released a new video at the Consumer Electronics Show aimed at showing what the future of boating might look like with the power of advanced marine technology, AI, automation and much more.
A 47-year-old man and his boat were abruptly drifted out to sea in St. Maarten due to a sudden change in the weather. He lost track of the port as he was working to mount and fix his sail which caused him to be disoriented. For 24 days the only food he had aboard was a bottle of ketchup, garlic powder, and stock cubes until he was rescued.
Two Sweden-based companies Candela and Polestar announced a partnership last August and have been hard at work creating the all-new C-8. The two companies have the goal of overcoming two major complications with electric boats including the large energy consumption from a powerboat’s hull as well as the high prices associated with electric marine batteries.
